Forklift filters are necessary components to the function of any lift truck in order to keep the contaminants out of the fuel, air, oil and hydraulic fluid. Forklift filters are also necessary for the lift truck to stay in compliance with emission standards. The important filters necessary to keep a forklift functioning properly are air filters, oil filters, hydraulic and transmission filters.

An I-C forklift may be powered by gasoline, diesel or propane. All of these fluids can be contaminated during regular use, therefore interrupting the flow and causing the truck to malfunction. You can also experience issues from rust in the fuel tank and dust or paint chips introduced during filling. A good filter is needed to screen out the debris and ensure a steady flow of fuel to your lift truck.

The air surrounding a forklift while it is being filled with fuel contains not just dust but pollen, mold and other contaminants. Unless they are properly filtered out, all of these particles can get trapped into a forklift engine through the air intake and negatively affect the truck's performance.

A forklift gets its ability to lift heavy objects from hydraulic fluid that is pumped into a pair of forklift hydraulic cylinders. This hydraulic fluid comes in contact with mechanical components, and as a result, metal particles and other contaminants must be removed from the hydraulic fluid. A hydraulic filter serves as a method of keeping these contaminants out of the hydraulic fluid. One must regularly replace the hydraulic filters in order to keep the fluid clean and prevent possible pump failure.

If contaminants reach a forklift's transmission fluid, they can cause issues with starting, slow shifting, difficulty with torque conversion and reduced power. The right transmission filter in your lift truck will keep the fluid clean and ensure smooth and uninhibited transfer of power.

Breathers are another type of filter placed on gearboxes, hydraulic reservoirs and storage tanks to keep water and contaminants out of the system. In many cases, moisture can cause more damage than solid contaminants. Using the right breather filters can remove moisture, therefore extend the life of your forklift.

Forklift filters are a necessary component for your lift truck to keep everything flowing smoothly and efficiently for your business.
